FIVE POEMS ।। PRASENJIT DAS
POETIC MOON
The moon passes behind the clouds,
it steals a glance and shies.
Lovely mystery kept in shrouds,
beyond which the wonder lies.
Each streak of light glows,
to change from dark to white.
Removing all the gloomy shadows,
into perpetual joy and light.
The moon speaks of love and desire,
with silver glimmer so bright.
For those always gloomy in despair,
you give hope and set things right.
LOST WINGS
The childhood days, now nowhere -
memories of old strewn in the air.
memories of old strewn in the air.
Past glee and whispers have dried -
Oh! Those colourful days, joyful ride!
As the yesteryears are flipped -
aware how far we have leaped.
Mind full of joy, now laid bare -
childhood spent in love and care.
The joyous wings used to flutter -
now tied in bond and worldly clutter.
The edges of study desks rotten -
Old and new, some mates forgotten.
Days flipping books, a real zinger -
the aroma of innocence still linger.
Days of jolly pranks, fooling friends -
treaded aimlessly; No curve, no bends.
Thru' kids of today, my childhood peeps -
amongst all treasures, they are for keeps.
FRIENDSHIP DAY
The friendship of starlit skies,
beyond which the darkness lies.
Like jewels stacked in ocean bed,
so far away glows the sun in red.
The love of darkness seduces me,
lost in the wilderness for eternity.
If that be the extent of my love,
tip toeing on my heart like a dove.
Blessed my soul and gave me peace,
heavenly tranquil! I guess it is!
beyond which the darkness lies.
Like jewels stacked in ocean bed,
so far away glows the sun in red.
The love of darkness seduces me,
lost in the wilderness for eternity.
If that be the extent of my love,
tip toeing on my heart like a dove.
Blessed my soul and gave me peace,
heavenly tranquil! I guess it is!
EMPTY
Words whispered soft, like summer rain,
Promises made, easing the pain.
A hand held tight, a loving gaze,
"Forever," you said, in sunlit haze.
Promises made, easing the pain.
A hand held tight, a loving gaze,
"Forever," you said, in sunlit haze.
We built a world of hope and dreams,
Beside the flowing, silver streams.
Each promise a stone, in our castle wall,
Protecting our love, from any fall.
But summer faded, leaves turned brown,
The promised castle started to fall down.
The whispered words, now echo cold,
A story of emptiness, growing old.
The stones crumbled, one by one,
The promises broken, the damage done.
Rain doesn't ease, it stings my face,
A hollow feeling, in this empty space.
And now I stand, in ruins bare,
With ghosts of promises, hanging in the air.
The loving gaze, has turned away,
Leaving me here, at the close of day.
HOLLOW
A whispered word, a hand held tight,
A promise made in fading light.
A future painted, bright and bold,
A story waiting to unfold.
But days turned cold, the sky turned gray,
The promised future slipped away.
The hand released, the words forgot,
A hollow space where hope was caught.
The vibrant colors, now all gone,
A silent echo lingers on.
A fragile trust, now broken through,
A question asked, "What should I do?"
The empty words, a bitter taste,
A garden now a barren waste.
A lesson learned, though hard and deep,
Some promises are not to keep.
